So i have been working on this pattern for a little while and really like it. I have only been tying now for a few months but used this one out in Colorado and wanted to try it here. Could not find any to buy so had to learn to tie it. Eastern trout seem to like at also ........ thoughts? Comments?

Don't know how important it is.
But male and female trico spinners have different colored bodies.
Males are all black. And females half black/half white.
I tie both

My compliments....

For a new tyer, that is a pretty well tied fly. Small dry flies are among the more difficult patterns to master.

Why is it effective? Well, there are a lot of small mayflies - tricos in particular as DFG mentioned above - that can be imitated by this pattern. Any time when trout are keyed on small mayflies would be a good time to use this fly (not to mention your already high level of confidence in it).
