Touch Dubbing

This is a great dubbing technique to create a really buggy look in the surface film, and few do it better than Matt Grobert, who is demonstrating the technique in this video. I touch dub several patterns including the Iris Caddis as shown in this video. However, I prefer Wonder Wax over the Loon stuff. I used the Loon wax for years and it has a tendency to gum up heavier than I like and has torn my thread on occasion. I’m sure that’s partly user error, but I find the Wonder Wax to be less problematic.
 
Matt's a great tier , learned fly tying by watching Walt Dette . That's a helluva pedigree
