This past Friday was a bad day of fishing - for the fish that is. I spent 1/2 day on Pennypack Creek and caught lots of blue gills and small mouths. The top water action with white was great. I would venture to say that 30% of the fish caught were SMBs. I also tried some of my homemade streamers with brass bead heads that also did quite well.
Saturday I was using the same top water popper and I tossed it into some rapids and low and behold I got a stocked brown trout about 13". This was a laughable encounter. I watch it chase after it and it struck about 3 times on the same pass before I hooked it.
