tippet curls

when using 5x or 6x tippet material i notice that my tippet has twists and curls near the fly using a improved clinch knot.What am I doing wrong.

You need to wet your knots when pulling tight. And try pulling on the tag end, that way you cut the curls off. These are friction burns from pulling the line through the knot.

Thank you,I can fix that problem,was going to switch to a Davy knot.

Go to a trilene knot at those lower strengths, less friction.
