I did this with coffin flies last year. I guess it worked decent. I didn't catch any fish on them, but none of the coffin flies I had worked. I did it so I could fish a drake nymph dropper, and it served its purpose.

I first saw it in the feathered hook and copied the idea. Since then, I've seen it a few other times. Pretty funny.

TCO sells something very similar for tying. It's a smaller version of a thingamabobber that can be you used for posts. It was pretty neat!
