In this article the author does a nice job of comparing the scientific and geometric advantages to the personal feel or preference. Ive only been fly fishing for 1 1/2 years and have decided that Glass is my favorite and that 8-8 1/2' is about all I can enjoy swinging all day. Furthermos I've landed at 4DT or 5 WF lines on a 7 1/2 ft for my go to size. I'm working on some heavier rods for bigger fish. But almost always Glass.
This article confirms my choices are on the right path my my fishing trips.
