At the recent PFBC meeting, Executive Director Tim Schaeffer reported that more than 970,000 fishing licenses were sold so far this year, the highest number in 25 yrs. For those who have followed the numbers over the years, even just in recent years, this is quite impressive, given how low they had gotten. The greatest number was cir 1991 when 1.1 million were sold, and as you know, there was a steady decline after that, with steep drops occurring after each license price increase.

That is very high. I think it was in the 600,000's a few years ago. Golf courses pack, RV sales up, and many of the outdoor activities up as well. I'm guessing the Pa Game Commission has seen the same thing for 2020?

I'd be curious to see the numbers for the Game Commission too.

Regarding the boom in fishing license sales, weren't fishing license sales up at the beginning of the year before the Covid shutdown? I seem to recall that they were up 13% in Feb. (but my brain may be fried).

Me thinks there may be something else at work besides just the pandemic.
Hhmmm....

Whatever the case, it's good news and let's hope the trend continues.
