Short video about where to find long, stiff hackle for dry fly tails.
I have some older necks with spade hackle that I keep around for tailing hackle. If that's not an option, I've found the "Whiting Bugger Packs" used for tying buggers and streamers are also a good source for dry fly tails.
When I find a few hackle feathers with longer stiff hackle from any source, I often slip those feathers into the poly bag with my neck or cape of the same color. One feather can tie a lot of dry fly tails. So when I do go to tie a tail on my dry fly, I don't need to search around to find tailing material to tie that fly. Give it a try.
