As some of you long-timers know, I used to host a "NCPA Summit" up at my camp in Potter every October. Since moving to WV in 2019, we've had to stop (for now) holding the summit. But I've been fortunate enough to still get up there every Fall w/ my family. The fishing and scenery is still as wonderful as I remember! I fished 6 days, covered about 20 stream miles (according to my watch), caught many many fish. I saw a few redds, was ever watching for them, but not as many as I expected to see. I also saw a lot of elk and a couple bear, turkey, porcupines, I even had to swallow my pride and re-enter into "Kettle Creek Tackle Shop" (some of you know that story...) to get some UV Aquaseal!

Always nice to get together with your family, especially in such a beautiful region. I'm happy for you.

Very nice.
You see any October Caddis?

I saw a lot of caddis, and caught a lot on a tan EHC. But nothing I'd call an "October Caddis" or the great Autumn Sedge. But, I did not fish big Pine at all, and typically that's where I'd see them this time of year.

I gotcha. I thought you might have stop on the Pine one time. Enjoyed the pics from a great area, I'm sure your family also enjoyed the trip.

There was one day where I ALMOST decided to drive over to Ansonia and fish that stretch of Pine. But I was having issues w/ my waders all week, and the prospect of being on bigger water and having yet another leak just didn't appeal to me, so I stayed closer to camp.

Sasquatch,

Glad you got to spend some time up north at camp and got some nice fish. Sure, do miss the NCPA Summit Jam with you guys at this time of the year. Always was good time and lots of laughs. Hope you and your dad are doing well.

I was looking out for you while I was up there. Thought maybe you'd be up either hunting or fishing.

Wow that was 10 years ago now. Was that year 1 or 2? I think 2, given the amount of people there. First year was pretty scant.

That flat top looks scary but also enticing at the same time 🤣

That stove is a touchy topic with me...one of my mom's cousins somehow finagled the camp to get rid of it, and replaced it w/ a standard gas oven/range. Sucks. She said that because the "oven didn't work" on the flat top, we should get rid of it, because she couldn't "bake pies" or some crap like that. Well heck, bake your pies at home, woman. What we CAN'T do on that stupid conventional stove top now is fry bacon, potatoes, hamburgers, onions, etc. and let all them juices coagulate together and whatnot!

Anyway...that may have been the year Skybay threw the jalapenos on the flattop and basically gassed out the entire camp.

Great pictures. Sounds like heaven to me.

No Scrapple in West Virginia?

I spend a fair amount of time in WV and I love scrapple.
Liver Mush is more common, similar but not the same but you can find scrapple.

Same as what we saw between Ross Run and Slate Run last week - except we counted about 5 big red caddis over 2 days of fishing. My father-in-law saw enough the weekend before that he left a pill box full of October caddis for us on the table at his camp. The little brown caddis were hatching in clouds while we were there.
