This isn't good for streams in PA, the most rafted river in the East Coast, I would imigine this one will be tough to contain.

but yeah, it's here. just watched a news story on TV about it.
like discussed elsewhere, is there evidence of it actually killing fish? or is it just a nuisance?
what effect does it have on bug life?
 
i think that the problem occurs when it blooms into thick mats that cover the stream bottom. Its detrimental to the food chain from the bottom (literally) up.

Like another thread stated, I think its time to start treating our boots and waders like every stream has didymo. Proactive instead of reactive.
 
I'm surprised there isn't a proposal to ban kayaks yet.
