Any of you guys up that way hearing the hum ? Thinking of heading up but not sure if the brood extended up that far.

Any news?

I made a bit of a cicada run yesterday (sunday)
And that's the first place I checked.

Driving up I-79, I started seeing a few cicadas bounce off the windshield around Zelienople.
Got off at Porterville exit, and went straight to the FFO section.
You can hear the loud buzz all around there - although I only saw a couple flying over the creek
But the water was still kinda high and brown. And the prospects didn't seem very good there. So I left.

Next stop - neshannock creek in Volant.
It was in better shape, although still kinda murky.
And I didn't see - or hear - any cicadas around that area at all.

Drove a little further north to cool spring creek. It was low and clear.
But again, no sign of cicadas.

Decided to keep going on up to oil creek.
It had just dropped down to a nice fishing level. And I figured it would offer the best chance to find risers.
And I did, in the keystone select water in the park.

No cicadas there either
But the fish were rising very sporadically to tan caddis and sulphers.
Just enough to give me some targets the rest of the evening

Thanks Bill

They are thick along Buffalo Creek.

Unfortunately, yesterdays rain raised slippery rock creek another foot

I crossed SR creek tonight and it looked like it could be fishable in 5 days, if no more rain. I was considering fishing there Thursday night until I saw it tonight. BTW I live 10 minutes from SR Creek and I haven’t heard a cicada yet.

Supposed to rain again tomorrow ( what else)?

if your in the 412 go hit the local stocked streams. I have been having a ball in the evening after work throwing big salmon flies aka 'I bought too many flies last year for Montana" The trouts are still there and taking cicadas.

Possible thunderstorm storms 13 out of the next 15 days.
