I've been tying ants with a small black bead head for over 20 years, a pretty logical step since at the time I hadn't ever seen that pattern. My original purpose was a dry fly /wet ant dropper combo for trout but recently it had proved lethal on pan fish below a popper. Biggest problem is fish inhaling it so moved to a curved 3x long 14.
