This hopper pattern (Letort Hopper) or at least my version has been killing the trout the past week or so. I see fish rising and throw this out and they will hit it every time. Sometimes you gotta give em steak.

Tight Lines !!

That's what I tell my buddies when I tie on a streamer.

"I'm gonna toss 'em a chunk of fresh meat!"

Maybe I'll whip up something similar tonight as I plan to hit one of my favorite small dry fly streams tomorrow. I have stimulators and I'm sure that they will get the job done.

This one has also been good for me but a little more effort to tie.

The OP hopper in post #1 looks pretty much like the one I did best on in SW Wisconsin every September when the hopper fishing isn't for the faint of heat It's sort of like throwing hamburger to Piranhas.

The only difference with mine was I made the deerhair a bit lower on the sides to (allegedly) suggest legs.

I tried to gussy it up a bit by putting variegated rubber legs on each side and a thread segmented foam body and my takes immediately decreased by about 80%.

Sometime simpler isn't just easier, it's also better...
