I'll be making my annual trip to Shenandoah mid june. Last year, I encountered some low flows, but still found some decent brookies. Any ideas what to expect this year? I'm taking the girlfriend, so I might not be hiking too bloody far. Ideally, I can find some good flows closer to skyline drive.

Thanks in advance all.

It's all about flows. As you discovered, flows can get low in the summer and that's bad for fishing. It's just the same as with freestone streams in PA, or really anywhere in the east. Low flows are bad. For much of the summer flows are low, then you get a thunderstorm and flows come up, and then you have a window of several days when the fishing is good.
There is absolutely no way to predict now what flows will be like there in late June. Just hope for the best, i.e. hope for some good rains just before you arrive.

You may want to fish the valley sections of those streams.

Check with Harry Murrays's flyshop before you go. He'll have the latest conditions.
