Tied these up for a friend heading to Florida for tarpon and shark...6/0 mustads on the single hook flies and 8/0 Gamakatsu on the double. You can see my thumb in bottom corner of last picture to get an idea how large these are.

whats he using for a rod a flag pole?

12 wt and a 14 wt rod. He's going to try for a big hammerhead with the 14 wt.

Neat pics Sandfly. We don't see a lot of shark flies around here.

Down in south FL, sharking with a fly rod has become very popular in recent years. When I fish the Keys I always take a few bright orange flies and throw 'em at the small lemons and black tips that are common on the flats. They usually ignore it but sometimes they'll eat. A three foot long shark on the flats is a blast on an 8WT rod (anything bigger than that and I usually won't even cast to them).

Nice Bob !!!!
Do the sharks like a lot of color ?
I have never and don't intend to fish for them ,so that is why I'm asking

Henry,
red was color i used for the hammerhead on my wall (with flash). They like yellow, red and orange the best. Chumming sharks is the easiest way to get them to come in and most flies resemble a chunk of chum. have to get it close to them as they have poor eye sight. Indian river inlet, assateague island and Florida all have inshore fishing for them. I have most on red or red/orange combo's (with flash)

Who is requesting or recommending 6/0 hooks for tarpon? Just curious, not criticizing.
Is this a new thing?

thse are the shark flies gutcutter. tarpon are on 2-3/0 hooks, no pics of them yet.
