Not sure if this has been addressed on here previously, but I was checking water levels in Maryland on the USGS site and saw a notice at the top of page from June 17th. Apparently, the gauge for the SAVAGE RIV BL SAVAGE RIV DAM NEAR BLOOMINGTON, MD will be discontinued on July 1st. I was surprised to see this considering it is popular for both fishing and kayaking and has been in operation since 1948. I know many on here fish this area and was wondering if anyone had more info on the situation.

Here is a link to the Maryland USGS Realtime Stream list, the notice is at the top of the page.

This is not the first time I've seen that notice, it happens on many of the gauges in western MD. They discontinued the casselman gauge for a few months but eventually it was restored.

I almost contacted them to see how much it would cost to support it.

In the meantime, you can use the Army Corps of Engineers site to get a general idea of flow as well as projected flow for both rivers for the next 3 days.

When this topic was discussed a number of years ago, it was stated that the Little J gauge cost $4800/year.

If you click on the reservoir plots for the savage you can actually get the exact current outflow from the above link.
