After perusing Ebay and other Sage LL series rods I might be a bit high on my valuation. Recognizing that I had to re-wrap the thread at the winding check and it has no hook keeper (most likely a remnant from when guys used leaders 9' long and less) I'm reducing the price to $425. A real bargain for a rod that has a huge collector following and casts a dry like the old school cane rods.

wbranch: If I didn't have my beloved LL from the mid 80s, I would be interested.

To anyone considering this rod, it is a fantastic, moderate action gem!

Fly-Swatter,

I could kick myself because at one time, besides this rod, I had three LL rods all 9' 3 piece for #4, #5, & #6. In addition I built a lovely LL 8' 9" #3 with black guides, a blackened nickel silver cap and ring and stabilized Rosewood insert. I sold that one for $400 but pretty much gave the other three away for $150 each.

If it was a Graphite II, I'd be interested.

I think you're on the money on the price drop. Though I wonder how Sage releasing the "new" LL will affect the original LL prices.

Good luck with the sale, they're fine rods.

Brookie Chaser,

Though I wonder how Sage releasing the "new" LL will affect the original LL prices.

I don't think it will affect the price structure of the 1st generation rods one iota. It is akin to someone having the tapers of the original Leonard and Payne cane rods and selling them as the "new" Leonard cane rods. Old is collectible and new is not.

Wbranch, I'd say you're right. I thought maybe the new "LL" could spark an uptick in interest in the originals.

So someone better jump on this deal before the prices go up.

After seeing the New Sage LL series is selling at $800 I'm bumping my price up to $500. It was a bargain at S425.

I'm re-listing the Sage 9' #4 for $400.
