Hello everyone, this summer I am going to visit some extended family in Colorado for 7-10 days. I have never been out that way and really want to fish while I am out there. However I have no idea what rivers or streams to look into. I know CO has a lot of private water and would very much not like to get a criminal trespassing charge.. I'll be staying outside of Pueblo, Colorado, if anyone can help give me some names of rivers or streams to check out I would be very appreciative. Or if there is a fly shop anyone knows about in the vicinity that I can stop in or give a call to get some info on, that would be awesome too.
Thanks in advance!

Pueblo, then the Arkansas River is the real deal. I would guess approx. 10 miles to fish open. Good fishing from Reservoir downstream to nature center. Check map, I think rd. 96 access. Drift fly shop good, although many others. Good fishing right in town.

Nothing fancy for flies, copper johns, pheasant tails, Kauffmann nymphs. top would be parachute's adams, pale mornings, elk caddis, hoppers. Very much same as here. Angler's do like flies with rubber legs, stones, big dry stone imitations with legs.

general use 9 ft rod, 9 ft leader, 4x at least. most have been using 3x. Chance to catch a big one and land it.

Just ask around, lot's of fishermen that will help you.

get on internet and check out. If you plan ahead all you will need is license. Never had to buy flies in Colorado, bought some in Idaho and believe it. Kmart or Walmart I can't remember. Large selection beautiful big and little under $1.00 a piece.

hope this helps some.

Thanks a bunch for the info! I did read a little about the Arkansas and I'm already getting pumped 4 months out from the trip. I really want a chance to get into some cuties too.

There's a fresh thread on Colorado with multiple replies in the Travel and Adventure forum.

I am sorry only 7 to ten. The flatirons, Boulder, the Zoo, panning for gold, Loveland, Netherlands, fishing, coyote's, Elk, Sheep, Denver for smoke! Inside, Outside, North side, West side. Waterfalls, the list goes on and on.

Colorado is where everyone went to when they had no other place to go. You can spend a day just to figure the crowd. Golden, casino's, Mexican restaurant's with Irish names. You will be so overwhelmed on what's going on.

Go light on the fishing tackle you take, I feel you will be doing some interesting visiting also.

Out of ten you will be lucky to fish 2, peacefully. I would think others are involved.

take flies, rod, reel, buy hips there and give them away when leaving.
get a grill and spices to smoke some trout. You smoke trout in Colorado, neighbors come over. cold beer and your king for a day!

Maxima, WTH are you talking about in your second post? Your first two paragraphs are nothing but gibberish and don't make any sense.

Jlafko, go on Youtube and look for videos by Trout Junkie. He has a whole series on streams in Co. Lots of small streams, but some bigger water too, very informative.

I see you're new here... :pint:

NOT THE ONLY THING THEY SMOKE IN CO

Yeah I didn't follow that second post at all, and I'll check it out, thanks Troutmeister!
