A true gentleman and great fly tyer. As a teenager, a friend and I would occasionally drop by "The Fly Stretch" to watch both Senior and Junior Cooper fill orders for Orvis. They always took the time to answer questions or explain techniques. When my own son was 9 or 10, he had his first tying lessons with Stan Jr. He was truly one of the greats and will be missed!

I met Mr. Cooper one time, he was extremely modest, all around great guy. He will be missed.

While I was mostly self taught, I attended fly tying classes where he and 2 other gentleman were teachers back in 83 or 84. I still have 3 flies of his that he tied for me as models to help me get proportions correct. A royal wulff, a gold ribbed hares ear, and a Mickey Finn.

A fine gentleman. Although I haven't seen or spoke with him in 30 years or so, I owe him much. Godspeed Mr. Cooper.
