Yes, the site wants to spy on you. Seriously, I don't know of any changes. Maybe some other moderator knows.

This is part of the new measure taken to prevent bots from registering automatically for spam. And those who manually register and are unwilling to share these details.

You can just put in whatever you want to update your profile. Its not intended to gather info on the users.

We were getting about 10-15 spammers a day signing on. With this new measure I can say we get about 5 a month.

I don't use the data, it only helps me find out who is really from the states. Thanks for your help and understanding.

Already in use. It is not the bots it is the people that are the problem.
