read and unread

I am finding huge inconsistencies in forums I have read and them being marked as such. I'll poke around and go the Forum Index and the ones I read will show that...then I'll click on another and when I go back to the index they are all marked unread. Later they'll be marked read again. Am I missing a setting or is my browser resetting its own?

Thanks and yes there are still some issues like this out there. I have not been able to focus on this one as of yet, but thanks for sharing. As always and screen shots or links are great.
