Racoon Fur?

My buddy at work is getting his kid into trapping. His boy got a racoon a few months back a ruined the pelt while trying to skin it. He said he cant sell it and asked if I could use it for tying.

Are racoon pelts good for tying flies?

Sure, any kind of fur is good.

Yea buddy, when I get the time I'm gonna make some jig flies with mine.

I would readily substitute them for pheasant fibbets/tippets or whatever as the tail on the royal coachman and its "variants.".
