Heard about this on the radio this morning. Not too familiar with the area, but thought it was interesting how it was stated that local environmental groups got the state to increase the protection level of the streams. Was it the environmental groups, or the results of fish and boat surveys?

Here's the list of use classification changes from DEP.

Anyone have more info?

I Read it too.
I have no information for you, just wanted to say how sick and tired Iam of business owners undermining scientific data and process because they wish to make more money.
It's a constant and tiring battle.

But they are called the Monroe County Clean Streams Coalition.

The process hasn't changed in years. Streams get surveyed and Classifications can and do change. What is important, EPA has rules about protecting uses, particularly for the very best streams, clean streams. That mean the use can't be degraded and can only be minimally degraded, to the extent that a stream can process the degradation. Many of our best streams are water sources for someone and shouldn't be degraded at all.
