A reminder to comment in favor of this ruling if you haven't done so already. We're the only state in the northeast and one of only 20 states nationwide with no form of private stocking documentation.

I recall about a decade ago I was fishing a small brook trout stream in central PA that isn't supposed to be stocked. I ended up running into a pod of about 20 or so stocked rainbow trout. I reached out to the AFM to enquire why they decided to start stocking this stream and he had to admit that he had no idea the fish were there. This has happened to me on 3 separate occasions in the past year and a half, and I've been cc'd on several emails by others who have run into similar situations.

This regulation isn't perfect in my opinion, but it goes a long way to bring us in line with other states in the northeast, reduce the threat of disease introductions to wild trout populations, and will be valuable to fisheries managers across the state to better understand the fisheries they're charged with managing.

Note that the deadline for public comment has been extended to 9/17/22 and a fisheries and hatcheries committee meeting is scheduled for 9/28/22 at 1 PM at the Harrisburg headquarters.
