It was 45 degrees So late fall fishing has arrived.
I got a handful to hand and missed more on wets and dries. Tiny Olives, size 26 and smaller, and a few tan caddis, size 18, were hatching and the trout were rising for about an hour.
The issue is from here on out the fish hormones are going to switch on. So my general take on 45 degree water is 1/3 will be pre-spawning, 1/3 will be spawning and 1/3 will be eating. Lower you expectations and respect the spawners and have fun.
Wets or dries and you won't bother a single spawning fish. Deep nymphing will bother spawners.
