Hey gang,

Lets give this Chat Forum a go Saturday evening at 8:00pm February 3. You can air some questions you may have about flyfishing or just get to know some of the members.

Just click on the Chat link on the left side bar and peck away. One bug we are working on in the "send" button is partially hidden to the right of the text editing window. If you can see it fine, use it, but if it is a problem, you can just hit tab and then return to work around it.

Hope to see you there.

Maurice

Dear Maurice,

Will an old fart like me get penalized for using whole words instead of cool symbols and stuff like the kiddies do?

If we want this to work we need Jeff Fabian to come onboard. He was more instantaneous than I was back in the day.

Regards,
Tim Murphy 🙂

If I can stay awake that late 🙂 I'll be there!

If I can rememeber I will be there, not that I can add much to the conversation, I"ll just sit in and see if I learn anything.

ok that didn't work too well for me...couldn't se aything but an empty box for most of it...page refreshing every 20 sec or so to reveal new posts was kind of annoying, especialy if you were in the middle of reading a previous post. Maybe it was my browser...i'l try it again with IE...

I could not be available for the first one.

Although it sounds as if it did not go all that well.

I would like to see it tried again.

It is something i would have participated in if I could.

Maybe the problems were with the sight ,you know sometimes fast ,and sometimes slow.

i just roll with it.

Hey try it again!

i will be in if at home at that time

I wish I would have known beforehand...I missed it by a few hours. I was taking a nap on the couch at the time of the chat. If I would have known I would have been here. I'll try to be around next time. I love chatting in the rooms if people are actually around to. I think its a good idea to try scheduling chats.

I was out, but I'd be interested in scheduled chats. It might be fun to choose a topic and then schedule it for a discussion. I did pop in later and encountered the same issue as Tom when I tried to review the caht that took place. As soon as you scroll back to the beginning, the window refreshes and shoots you back to the bottom. Is there a work around or setting to avoid this problem?

Yes Jack...get there on time!

Seriously, The module is not very progressive. Certainly not to the claiber of MSMessenger or AOL. If you go at it with a sense of humor and not looking for a Mercedes, you can get some conversation hashed out. For instance, I think we are planning a mini-Jam for the Grannoms.

We can have another Chat anytime you guys want. In fact YOU can schedule it. Unfortunately the only way to tell if someone is in there is to go there. Unless you schedule it. If users can settle on a time it could easily be made a weekly thing. I would recommend after 5:00pm or on weekends because it does tax the bandwidth. Come up with a schedule and have at it. You can even schedule it through the General Forum with a description of the topics, or Open Chat.

Use it just don't be surprised if it doesn't light up your world.

I just wanted to give it a good test since no one ever uses it. It did OK...only OK, As Tim M said...its kind of like morse code. I wouldn't use it to summon paramedics.

Dear Maurice,

I think it went pretty well. It is somewhat slow compared to other chats, but on a high speed connection I didn't miss any responses. The screen flashed a bit but I could follow everything.

It was nice to get to talk with some folks in a real time format as opposed to the message board. Since it is winter the board is really moving slowly right now.

Regards,
Tim Murphy 🙂

I enjoyed it, somethings didn't go well but all in all it was fun. I was expecting more people, but it was a short notices next time we should schedule it earlier and maybe make a weekly thing.

Whoever reads this beofre 9:00pm EST meet me in the chat room...I want to check something out.

Thanks,,
Maurice
