Is everything in PA that low?
Dear Tom,It's grim for sure but I just drove the length of the turnpike including over the Juniata, Susky, and today Perkiomen creek. And while they aren't pushing grass, they did not appear as low as this map would indicate. Susky actually looked high.

Only speaking visually. The island in the middle the rather murky colored river is almost completely under water. There is very little difference from bank to bank in surface disturbance suggesting and structure is completely submerged. I'll will go back across it tomorrow. We did have rain friday so...Dear Tom,
The Susky in HBG will hit 4 feet sometime next week unless a dam bursts somewhere. Historically 4 feet was a July 4th target according to Bob Clouser.
In the overall scheme of things low water on the big rivers might not mean all that much. But for Midstate trout waters it's pretty bad right now, iff'n you are a fish.
You know me, I'm Captain Negative, always down at all times. 😉 But when windblown leaves in my yard crash together while blowing across my yard and get reduced to dust, it's bad!

Tim Murphy 🙂

That's true. The colors can easily throw you off.Red is relative to “normal” median flows for the date. So the same amount of water (cfs wise) that would show as a shade of red now, likely would be some shade of blue in August. I’d be delighted to have these flows in August. Keep that in mind. We don’t really need the rain NOW, but yeah, I wouldn’t turn down some.
NOT GOOD!Dear JimNovo,
It's grim right now in Central PA. We have rain on tap for most of next week but with only 3/4" forecast for the week it won't even matter. Sprouting dandelions will make short work of whatever rain falls I'm afraid.
We need 2 or 3 days of steady April showers to make May flowers and to ensure mayflies get by too. 😉
Here's hoping!
Regards,
Tim Murphy 🙂

You have to look learn what cfs levels are best for the streams you fish. Don't focus on the color.
Many streams are now at very good fishing flow levels.
