took my lunch break around 1PM yesterday on a back road along Elk Creek ( some of you guys will remember the old 3CU raceways and that old house that "accidentally" burned down. we used to walk that creek down to fish Elk). sitting in my chair by the road with sandwich, beer, pickles, etc ... a small car pulls up and rolls down the windows. Gentleman behind the wheel asks " where you fishing?" I tell him i fished by the rt 20 bridge and had some fun. He says to me " you know who i am ". I replied " no -- i dont know who you are " . he says " no -- you know who i am ( he reaches down and hands me a decal ) ... I'm Uncle John"...... of Uncle John's Elk Creek Campground.

I replied " UNCLE JOHN -- i look at your webcams everyday!!" He says " of course you do --- listen - i wont make you pay, but come on down to the camp ground, park your car by my office and go fish the creek there --- they're gett'in down there". I thanked him and we shook hands and he drove away and i finished my lunch. i didnt take him up on his offer - i wanted to fish above the Tubes. We're lucky -- we meet a lot of very nice people while we're out enjoying a day on the water.

Elk Creek was in great shape yesterday. great flow and wonderful color. it was incredibly crowded --- obviously week of Thanksgiving should expect nothing less. but everyone was respectful and pretty much stuck to the
"10 to 2" spacing with enough room in between. more pinners than i ever recall from outings before. I got one nice one on a small fire red bead head, and lost one other. Had a great time. went into Albion and replaced my case of Straub Pounders. All in all --- a very nice trip.
