I am on vacation in Idaho (not a fishing trip) and came accross a fly shop so I stopped in. The guy at the counter couldn't have been nicer and gave me a tying tip to add action to nymphs and small streamers. He said to tie in a small tag of thick tippet material/fishing line slightly behind the head of the fly and facing down. He said that this adds a huge amount of action to the fly as this little tag acts as a rudder and causes the fly to jig during strips. I have yet to try it but the guy seemed really enthusiastic about it so I thought I would share.

Hmm thats interesting. I am gunna try that tonight... So your saying a piece of tippet off the eye will give the nymph some action? Never heard it, but it makes sense

What about the tippet that's attached to the eye?

Makes it kinda like a rapala.

Here i thought the tag ends of line turnt the fish off
