I need advice and suggestions on flies/nymphs to use if PA weather allows me an opportunity for fishing this winter? I'm wondering about Euro nymphing but any fly fishing advice will keep me entertained.

If I’m nymphing in the Winter, unless it’s on a pure limestone spring creek (think like the Cumberland Valley limestoners), one of my two flies in my rig is always an egg. Probably 85% of the time the other is a big heavy Stonefly.

Keep it simple in Winter. No need to match what nymphs are active. Something middle of the road and heavy. Getting down to the bottom is more important than fly selection in Winter IMO.

I’ll let some other guys chime in on the Euro Nymphing piece. I still tend to like to use a bobber in most situations.

Good advice above.

Nymphs tend to be small in the fall and winter (stoneflies can be an exception as they live years rather than months). I'd get a basic selection of nymphs like the Hare's Ear and Copper John in smaller sizes - think 16 and 18.

Euro nymphers tend to like the more modern style nymphs that are small, very heavy and sparse - think Perdigon - but I tend to prefer buggier/fuzzier more traditional nymphs.
