my first vise

a picture of the vise that I started tying with. It was my grandfather's. I have no information or markings on it to identify it. It's a rotary, probably from the sixties.
Notice how, as a kid, I modified the bobbin cradle. the hook on it was not deep enough (thread slid off) and came down too low. So I modified it. Seemed to make sense when i was 14 yo. I tied with this vise until i was 27 yo

Can anyone identify it?

was he a machinist ? looks like it may have been homemade - really cool and a treasure. I'd use it today
 
Sorry I can't help you ID it, but it's truly a great piece. I love seeing anything old and mechanical and then on top of that, you added fly tying into it.

I'd love to see any other old gear you have.
 
No, he wasn't a machinist.

I found that someone has re-manufactured this vise. Mine is not the light weight aluminum used here

I also found this pic on the internet. It seems this version had an attachment mine dis not. It looks like the attachment allowed it to me mounted on the side of a table leg or something
