I started out on a tiger muskie hunt…but no luck.

Later, a 19" slab was caught after dark on a olive dungeon variant.

I have been enjoying the my Dad's Pflueger MEDALIST (M94 DA). The reel is set-up with a custom sink-tip (6 ft hand stitched loop) on a 7wt Cortland 444 DT Peach line that was most likely put together and last used in the 70's. Leader and line are as found in the box in the basement. It works excellent on the Redington VOYANT 6wt 4pc I recently purchased at half price. A heavy fish on a reel without a large arbor is weird…kind of sucks in strong current.

Wow - heckuva nice bass - he's not missing out on his meals (likely a "she")!

Cool report on the old Medalist.
Like a lot of folks, I too have at least one old beater Medalist and I enjoy fishing it from time to time. Yuh gotta love that sound.

I also have a very old (probably 1920s), mystery brand fly reel that belonged to my great grandfather and it too still fishes well.

Nice fish Brian. That's a hog.
