What fun is it to post a pic of a small one when it's not a trophy. My bro with his first. It was small but its one so yes they are there.

Neat! A first muskie is an unforgettable experience.

A purebred - likely between two and three years old.

Was it caught on a fly? If so, why not post it in the toothy success thread? (Or you can leave it here as a stand alone thread)

I think it's a young stocked tiger. Close to little over 20 in so 2 to 3 years is a good guess. No he's not a fly fisher caught with a minnow been trying to get him into it.

No Dave is right, that's a purebred. Look at his caudal fun. It would be rounded like a pike if it was a tiger.

Looks like getting that hook out might have been a hassle too by the way the line looks. Looks like he might have taken that minnow a little deep.

Never thought a pure had those black stripes on them .

That's y when you fish for them you need a long pair of pliers. They don't hesitate when they strike they swallow them hole with a vacuum force suction. Not like a trout that picks it up and spits it out.

Yeah, there are a few different common colorations of purebred muskies. And no doubt about the pliars. I've landed some toothy fish in my life although it's been a few years. One of the many things that I like better about artificial stuff is that deep hooks are way less common.

If I don't know it I usually research it. Who would of thought they get so many colors. Something neat I found.
