Montreat, NC

I am headed down to Montreat, NC to spend the weekend with my cousin. We’ll be in a cabin just outside the southern tip of Pisgah National Forest. Wanted to know if anyone could recommend some streams for a day of blue lining while I’m down there. Was hoping to get some names so I could see what is closed to fishing. Thanks in advance.

I haven't fished that are fo a few decades (when I lived in Columbia, SC), but every small stream down there had wild bows. If things are similar, you can't go wrong on any stream. I wish I had more recent, specific info to share.

Have you checked in with Davidson River Outfitters?

The South Toe River is pretty close and always treated me well for wild RT when I lived in NC. That's been quite a while though..

Not a whole lot to report back. Flat Creek ran through the property we stayed at so I never ended up fishing anywhere else. Got into enough brookies and rainbows to keep me happy and from straying anywhere else.
