Oh nice what brand? Cheaper lol? I feel like this fly costs 5$ to tieView attachment 1641226613
Lol - I know what you mean - prices going up all around - for these i used Semperfli Predator fibers I had laying around - Neer Hair is also the same thing and usually cheaper. I know some tyers say that EP brand is better quality - I don’t agree with them in that you are paying for the name - you can buy any acrylic yarn at Hobby Lobby, JoAnn fabric, or craft store and comb it out with a pet “flea comb” and achieve the same results (just requires a little more work). You can also mix and match colors to suit. I’m not slamming EP - I just don’t like paying premium prices for stuff that can be sourced for much cheaper. There are user groups that focus on craft store materials sourcing for fly tying. When I was doing production jobs, every little bit of savings on materials helped my bottom line for profit. Lots of good info out there and lots of bargains at the craft stores if you hunt for them!

Damn lol thats website would have saved me thousands of dollars. If only I could to back in time and give 5th grade me that website

I use the backer rod for mice already from the home Dee-pot. I am going to get that craft foam and an exacto knife and make my own foam fettuccine

Ha - how about it? Though when I was in 5th grade, for hooks, and necks, there was only E. Hillle mail order or the stuffy Orvis shop in Boiling Springs - Dad and I shot a lot of our materials (and are the meat) when it came to Deer, Pheasant, Grouse, Rabbit, and Squirrel - and “borrowed” yarn and thread from Mom’s sewing stuff. Good times
