So far it looks like the weather is gonna be nice,i dont't know about everyone else but i have a 3 day weekend so it looks like im gonna be doing alot of fishing mainly the Lackawanna river, and i might head up to Bowmans creek.what is everyones plans?

well as i posted ill be going to northcentral pa. i hope the weather is good. funny thing is ill be headin up that way in about a month lacky. maybe ill try to let ya know and we can do the lackawanna together. i like that stream and im not much into the "bigger water". some nice wild brown trouts in there though!
other than fishing in gods county......drinkin some beer and whiskey and chew on tobacco as im fishin=)

whats up olacky, i live up on east mountain now, used to live in susquehanna county, i fished bowmans prob 3 or 4 times a week before i started a new job a couple weeks ago, the lackawanna i've fished about a dozen times, mostly the stretch by the park in archbald, usually walk down the trail along the tracks till it hits the houses and street, then work my way back up stream, what sections do you fish/have sucess? plan on fishing it alot more since its only a 15 min drive instead on 50 minutes,
also, don't know if you fish it, but there's a nice dhalo stretch that runs through keystone college that i fish alot, some good pools, runs, and riffs that have some nice holdovers with a decent number of stockers.
plan on hittin one of these three this weekend. which one? prob a last minute decision where i change my mind 25 times

FYI- Memorial Day weekend Saturday is a fish-for-free day as is the following Saturday.

flyfish10 ,a good spot in the lackawanna is near the ancor,go over the bridge into olyphant, then take the second left cause the first one is a one way then just go around the block till your near the river bank, and you can find spots to park around there,i never fished bowmans yet,but gonna try over the weekend, also send me a PM if you wanna hit the lacky up this weekend!!i just got back from there and i seen a monster come out of the water !! it had to be 25inches i kid you not..

The Lackawanna is fishing great,I've been there almost everynight till dark.Like I said before seeing is believing.I have been taking browns 18-26in. every night

I have yet to visit the Tup or LLH, and was thinking about going this weekend. I understand that these streams can get a little crowded, and I'm not one for combat fishing. From any of your expirience, will both of these get totally blown out this weekend, or do they not get hit too hard?

I'll take that as a bad sign......Kind of puts me between a rock and a hard place. That being the big SEPA streams are crowded, but the Central PA streams are all flowing low. What to do????

I feel your pain dude. The place I wanna go this weekend has one or two good flowing streams right now and theyre both quite popular and heavily fished during holiday weekends.

My memorial day normally consists of searching for wild trout in unknown streams but the way a lot of streams are flowing right now, i dont know if thats even an option. I might have to end up just cracking a few beers and doing some grilling... which would be such a shame :-D

dude,

The LL or the Tully won't be AS crowded out of the SR areas. Real fishing solitude (with good fishing) can only be found in the smaller, lesser known wild trout streams during the holiday weedend in SEPA.

I'm going to fight the crowds and take my wife fishin for bluegills at Marsh Creek Lake. It's free fishing day this Saturday and next - so that will crowd the streams and lakes even more. I do think the free fishing is a great idea by the PFBC - the more the merrier! - and merry it will be! Have a great holiday.

thanks olyphant, i will pm you if i dedcide to hit it this weekend, i was curious if its around the train station? still don't know olyphant that well.

by the way there's a great run on bowmans if you hit the fly stretch, its fairly deep and has a branch hanging out over it, but watch out for old wheel wells at the top and a branch thats underwater directly under the branch that shoots out over the water, i swear i've lost at least a dozens flies on it, theres a couple nice rainbows and a nice size brown, not sure how big though, he's got unhooked about 6 times this year. good luck

thats great news waterman, can't wait till the work weeks finally over with. im curious to know how the flows are. i checked the usgs site and its got a green dot for archbald and a maroon dot for old forge?

also either of you dudes fish by the robert mellow park area? i went there once but it was flowin high and the water was rippin through there. scared me right back to my truck.

flyfish10 ,i fished there a few times,if you cross the walking bridge and go down stream you will find a few holes that are good fishing.
