I just re-read Seth Norman's "Meanderings of a Fly Fisherman." The 50 to 60% of the book that is about or related to fly-fishing is really good. The story "Of Grace and a Caddis Case" is a real gem. His tribute to Andre Puyans at the end of the book is done well, too. My complaint is that he too often meanders away from fly-fishing to plug fishing or non-fishing. This seems to be typical of most modern writers who think they are writing about fly-fishing. Perhaps that is why many of us delight in Gierach: he writes fly-fishing stories in his fly-fishing books.
Anyhow, if you can get the book cheaply online, much of it is good reading, though Norman meanders off topic too often, IMO.
