I've been making big, big flies lately and have found I can only fit a few in a typical fly box. I searched online and found a few large boxes, but they cost up to $50 or more.

So I found a cheap plastic pistol case clearanced at Gander Mtn and with the help of two pair of dollar flip flops size 11, a razor and some glue I was able to make the perfect box that just barely fits in my shoulder bag. The box measures about 10.25× 8.25 × 3 inches. Total cost was about $12.

This box will easily fit two or three dozen of the largest flies I have including 5" clousers, crayfish, leaches and assortment of poppers.

Neat! Thanks for the tips and technique.

FWIW, the craft boxes and general construction boxes ,for pipe fitting etc make good tackle holders. They lay flat and have adjustable compartments in them. My salt water lures, big plugs, spoons and jigs fit nicely. They are CHEAP and really sturdy. GG

I got a clear box at Michael's and some poster board to make the rows. I made 3 of these for about $7 each.

Nice. I saw the same exact box (black) at Cabela's last week. They wanted I think $25 for it, and they had larger ones that were in the $30 something range.
