Low Tully Flow

I wonder what is the purpose of bringing the Tully down to such a very low flow? 55.7 cfs.

They did this last week also. I've read they try to hold back water when the Skuke reaches flood stage and release it when the River lowers below that point. Which is now. (see below)

The primary original purpose of the Blue Marsh dam is flood control. Makes sense they would hold water back when down river is reaching flood stage.

Once the Skuke comes down, expect them to dump a bunch of water to bring the lake down to desired pool level.
 
Thanks for the information. Makes sense regarding flood control but I wonder how the trout fare with such low water and the high number of blue herons and other birds of prey?
 
And now the release is back up over 2600
