About a size 6 or 8

Got figure in those vast meadows, there are plenty of these guys and this fish probably eat them. Never thought about using a dragonfly nymph but the size of this thing has got to get a fishes attention if they are present in any amount of numbers.

Green dubbing, 2xl 8 hook, brown thin skin and maxima rib. simple enough.

or throw a black sculpin.

Dragonfly nymphs live in ponds or marshy areas because the waters are calmer than in a stream or river. Sometimes they can be found in the calmer backwaters of rivers, too. Dragonfly nymphs may eat smaller dragonfly nymphs as they develop.

Explains why I caught him where i did.
 
That's a cool pic. Dave Whitlock has a really good Dragonfly nymph pattern.
