Knot strength

I learned the Palomar as kid from an article in Field & Stream and even carried around the pictuture of how to tie that I cut out of the magazine it for years.

I've been using it for conventional fishing ever since.
 
I've always favored the trilene knot over the Palomar. Palomar is a dang good knot, though.
 
All I know is that depending on material and diameter, an extra wrap or twist is the difference between an extremely strong knot and a pretty pathetic one.
