I made an effort recently to learn more about the physics of rods and I keep coming across the idea that modern fast action rods are rated lower than what they really are.

That tying desk has many signatures of famous fly anglers. Mostly old timers, Jacklin etc..

He knows a thing or two but don't care much for him. He holds court around that table and will pontificate at you.

I always thought it'd be great if fly line manufacturers published the actual grain weight at every so many feet for each rated weight of line.
