Saw this on Cabelas. Not top of the line but still a good deal for a beginner.

That's a hell of a deal on that Columbia vest. I went to a sling pack this year but I had a Columbia vest for years before that. Other than being a bit faded, it still has a lot of life left in it.
 
Just starting out and trying to gear up on a budget that's perfect. My first reel cost $5.00 ( Ryobi Fintec sx f1)used it for a couple of years before moving up.
 
I had a Henry's Fork vest for almost 25 years. I changed to a Simms G3 a couple of years ago and don't like it nearly as much. That's a good deal for a vest that will last.
