Just watching s show on the outdoor channel about redfish at the mouth of the Mississippi , Tom Rowlands points out that at one point redfish were almost extinct , makes me think of going to Lake Erie when i was in my early teens , late 60's early 70's , it was a real mess , i mean nothing lived in there , i had relatives around Lacawanna NY. Things can recover. It can be done , look at the Stonycreek River in Somerset and Cambria counties. I'm sure a few of you can add to this list?

Spring and valley creeks come to mind. Contrary to what some say, many of our streams are now cleaner than they were in the past.

In much of NW PA freestone country, acid rain is perhaps the biggest problem. If you believe EPA maps of acid deposition, the situation has improved.

I fished a stream last month that once was uninhabitable with AMD, it held wild brookies.

A LOT of things are better than they used to be.
