My Best fly yet i believe with gill imitation from advice from tomg and others.

Pretty good Mute. I am not saying it won't work for an Iso nymph but typically they are tied with a white stripe up the back. I use a white hackle stem ribbed with gold wire.

Yea, i actually used a white goose biot in a few other tries, but it just seemed to bright compared to the real thing. Its hard to see in the pic but it has a light light silver strip up the back. You can see it more on the wing case then down the body in the pic

Thats it! Try a stripped white or tan hackle stem they are thinner. But you have the idea.

Also, when I tie them I don't make a distinction between the abdomen and thorax.

Still, thats a pretty good tie.

Thanks Marurice, and ooooh buggy.

I use white tying thread or rod building thread for my stripe.
When it gets wet it turns semi transulcent -- kinda that dull color like the natural.

Mute,
just for you to try, if you wish...
Use black poly propelene, fairly thick, for the wing case. It has some air trapping abilities and gives a flashback type appearence without sacrificing a thick dark wing case; and there is great contrast then with the white stripe. (make sure it is pulled really tight)
