vise on ebay

its a cheap regal knock off

Pauly, Im not the sharpest tool in the shed but I feel pretty confident in this statement. Tying can be easy or it can be hard but the right tools will definitely make it easier where cheap tools may make it harder. Two things I think you need to not go cheap on are, the vise and the scissors. My two cents.

oh,and start talking to your friends that are hunters now, haha.

don't forget to raid your wife's sewing box.

if you come in to philly ,i will be glad to show you some technique.

I don't think you have to spend a lot of money on your first vise. My first was a cheapo AA vise that was probably $25. Yes the jaws eventually wore out but it lasted long enough for me to figure out that I liked tying. After that I upgraded a little.

I am not a fan of Regal vises. However, anything that holds a hook will work better than nothing. I have tied flies just using my hands for the hell of it once. There are a few things I agree though that I would not go cheap on scissors, as already mentioned, and a bobbin. Get a good bobbin with a ceramic tube.

Yep noted. I'm going to by a tool at a time getting good ones. I can pass it on to my boys.
