I believe some of you have fished the iron lotus, or at least have heard of it. I really like the fly so I decided to make a video. It's not exactly how Mr. Egan ties it (from what I can tell), but I'm not going to change one thing and call it my own! So here is my credit to Mr. Egan for a great fly, I hope I did it justice. Also, any tips on the video (what would make it better, etc.) would be greatly appreciated! The recipe is in the video. Hopefully these work for you guys! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for posting, I have been wanting to tie some of these up.

You bet. As for the abdomen, you can use green olive, olive, brown olive, brown, even black. Well, you can use whatever you want to use, but I suppose those are the most common. Glad you enjoyed it.

I've been successfully using weighted and un-weighted Iron Lotus as well as Lance's Frenchie as anchor flies with various other patterns as point flies. I personally have had better success with the Frenchie than the Iron Lotus. I tie these patterns small like in sizes 18-22.
