How to spot rising trout

My obvious response was "you spot them with your eyes" LoL. Video had good tips and nice footage. I'm quite confident that for all of the risers I see, I'm missing 70% or more of the takes in a section of water I'm on.

Good point about the glare.
I frequently move around - even switching to the other side of the stream when I can - to try to cut down on it.

As for spotting rises in general: I always try to position myself somewhere high - bridges are great - to watch for them.
And even try to place myself in an advantageous spot while eating my lunch, to scan the water while doing that.

When in the water, I've kinda wished my head was on a swivel, to make it easier to look up and down steam.

And even while reeling in and landing a fish, I'm still taking quick glances around when I can, to hopefully spot and mark another riser to try for next.

If you haven't already, read "In the Ring of the Rise" by Vincent C. Marinaro.

The definitive work on the subject.

I agree. I have that book and it's a great read. Also Charles K. Fox "Rising Trout" and George La Branch's "The Dry Fly and Fast Water".
