The tying instructions for this traditional English dry fly pattern resemble that of a wet fly. How do you secure the hackle to the shank, and is this performed before tying in the tail. Another words do you tie in the hackle as your winding silk towards bend, tie in the tail, add dubbing, quill etc, turn hackle and finish.
Instructions call for placeing the hackle tip on the furthest side of the shank with the shinny side facing you; turning the hackle on it's butt section toward wings.
Any one have any knowledge on this 100 year old, plus, fly.
A floating fly...
I have the sterling, silk, non-genetic dun, called for. * 94832 is the only substatute I'm aware of and I've got it. I'm also considering lamp oil treatment. From what I understand lamp oil adds color saturation as well as keeping the fly dry.
