Hackle Chicken Recommendations

I spent an evening cleaning out my “farm girl” GFs chicken coop last week so she can have fresh eggs throughout the summer.

I got to thinking...

Can anyone recommend a farm will ship me some eggs or chicks that would produce good tying hackle?

I have no interest in breeding or selling, just wanna save some bucks and maybe feel some DIY satisfaction.

If you want to save some bucks, buy the saddles. Free range is great in the summer, but your gonna have to feed him all winter. And keeping bugs out of your saddles is easier then keeping a weasel ( or the neighbors dog) from killing your hackle bird.
Whiting 100 probably about the same $ as a sack of scratch feed, no?

Raising good tieing hackle takes years to breed. If you are looking to raise for streamers and wets then most any barn yard bird will do. If you want a rooster I have 2 you can have, just pick them up.
